Accomplishments
  • Installation of the First Call for Help Directory on the School District mainframe for school use.
  • The Essential Buildings Blocks report stating skills and knowledge necessary by the school district, community, parent and child for a successful citizen.
  • Year 2000 Fatherhood calendar distributed through the hospitals for new fathers.
  • Father of the Year essay contest for public and private students. Banquet to award top Father, Stepfather, Grandfather, and Father Figure and their child.
  • Status Report to the community on statistics for data elements. The needs to be addressed will be drawn from the difference of the essential building blocks (what we would like) and the status report (what is in the community).
  • A effective school medicaid program for Escambia County bringing much needed monies into the district.
  • Workshops offered include:
    • What’s In It For Me? - a collaborative workshop for people interested in the education and welfare of young children
    • Grant Writing — for child care providers
    • Candidates’ Forum — identify how political candidates stood on certain issues
    • Where the Sidewalk Begins — an asset-based approach to support and strenthen communities
    • 1-800 Collaborate - presented at SEDNET Circle of Care Conference
    • 3 C’s for Community and School Partnerships — communicate, collaborate, coordinate for agencies and school personnel
    • SSN Agreements - used with the Early Childhood Interagency Council (the group that assisted start up for the school readiness coalition)
    • Santa Has Gifts for Childcare Providers — collaboration with make and take breakouts and door prizes
    • Asset Based Community Development — for community residents and agencies
  • Produced Chief Judge’s Children’s Council flyer for distribution through out the community and agencies.
  • Working with community businesses to spotlight businesses that create a climate of volunteerism for their employees and encouraging others to follow suit. A booklet entitled Volunteering is good business was produced in conjunction with Pensacola’s Promise.
  • The Chief Judge’s Task Force on Youth Gangs produced a comprehensive report on youth gang activity identifying the extent of the problem and making recommendations regarding education of the public.
  • Shared Services Network help sponsor Dr. Brad Greene of the Glasser Institute to address our community on the topic of Choice Therapy.
  • A single entry system for registering children for services in use due to the efforts of the Early Childhood Interagency Council with SSN participation.
