Steering Committee

• All participating agencies’ mission statements have been compiled and shared with the group.
• A matrix of the boards and councils on which committee members participate was developed.
• Information was gathered from committee members regarding their responsibilities through their agencies.
• The group determined that decisions should be made through consensus rather than a vote. They also agreed that each member would commit to attending each meeting in person and not send designees.
• Because of Orlo Vista Elementary’s history of poor attendance, it was determined that school attendance would be the focus of the Steering Committee.
• The Steering Committee has adopted a mission statement:
  • The mission of the Shared Services Network of Orlo Vista Elementary is to ensure that the targeted children and their families achieve their full potential by providing comprehensive, integrated services through a coordinated leadership, planning and collaboration involving all segments of the community.
• A process of selecting students for the Student Success Program has been developed in order to focus on their school attendance.
• Students and parents have been interviewed as potential participants, and 12 students are now participating in the process.

• Met only once to develop way of work and define roles.

Student Success Team

• All twelve students involved in program decreased number of absences after interventions.
• Five families were referred to outside agencies for other services.
• One student was placed in home schooling to be taught by the parent.
• Mentoring Program with local law enforcement officer started with selected students from program.
• Meetings have been held to coordinate services and information to families.
