Accomplishments
- Standardization of the crisis management system for the school district through the utilization of staff training, two crisis response flip charts and an expansion of emergency drill procedures. 3,500 copies of the Crisis Management and Medical Emergency Flipcharts have been distributed.
- The CEO Roundtable has received a Magna 2000 Award from the National School Boards Association for its efforts to address violence prevention.
- Training and interventions have resulted in a 73% decrease in violent incidents from school year 1997-98 to school year 1998-99.
- A grant has been received which will provide crisis response and community-wide violence prevention training.
- Incorporation of a Comprehensive Character Education Program into the Santa Rosa District Schools Student Development Plan for all students PK-12.
- Implementation of school site Integrated Services Teams for at-risk students.
- Implementation of a Crimestoppers Program for anonymous student reporting.
- Creation of a school board policy for use of hand-held metal detectors at all middle and high schools.
- Production of CD Roms containing digitized aerial surveys and blueprints of all schools for distribution to law enforcement, school district and Emergency Management Services.
- The creation of a "Laws for Youth" booklet for student and parents.
- A violence prevention workplan has been developed.
- Three videotapes on the topic of violence prevention have been produced.
